The 13 doctors from eight different countries talked freely, and some even expressed their ideas in skilled Chinese.

这13位来自8个不同国家的医生畅谈着，有的甚至用熟练的汉语表达了自己的想法。

"Many people from different cultural backgrounds came to Shanghai and lived here slowly. They gradually became 'shanghaitong', which is very interesting!" Said Dr. Zhao Kangwan of Shanghai Life Tree medical beauty clinic.

“很多不同文化背景的人来到了上海，在这里慢慢生活，慢慢成了‘上海通’，这很有趣！”上海生命树医疗美容门诊部的赵康完医生说道。

Dr. Michelle Okano anzanello of Shanghai Shende hospital said that she was about to renew her work contract, and her children began to learn Chinese. During the two and a half years in Shanghai, she felt the convenience of urban life and the friendliness of people everywhere, so she wanted to continue to live and work here.

"My family and I are reluctant to leave here now. If we want to say what is urban soft power, Shanghai's friendliness, security and vitality are the most attractive places." Dr. Marie Mathilde Costa from Shanghai Lanyang oral clinic said.

“我和家人现在都不愿意离开这里，如果要说什么是城市软实力，上海的友好、安全、活力，就是最具魅力的地方。”来自上海蓝阳口腔门诊部的Marie Mathilde Costa医生这样说道。

"Soft power is like the 'personality' of a city. Openness, innovation and inclusiveness have become the most distinctive character of Shanghai." The 13 foreign doctors said that in their eyes, the achievements of medical and health care are the most powerful embodiment of Shanghai's soft power.

We should cultivate students' "soft power"

要培养学生的“软实力”

"I have lived in Shanghai for seven years. I like teaching in this city. In my classroom, I seldom assign homework to my children. Instead, I hope to cultivate students' ability to think and solve problems in interesting ways, so as to improve their 'soft power'." Andrew mcgillivray from Canada said at the Symposium of foreign teachers held on February 24. In his view, to enhance the soft power of the city, we should pay special attention to the "soft power" of children.

“我已经在上海生活了7年，我喜欢在这座城市教书，在我的课堂里，很少给孩子布置家庭作业，而是希望通过有趣的方式培养学生思考问题、解决问题的能力，从而提升学生们的‘软实力’。”在2月24日召开的外籍教师座谈会上，来自加拿大的Andrew Mcgillivray这样说。在他看来，提升城市的软实力，要格外重视孩子们的“软实力”。

Max duroseau, an African American teacher, said that the openness and inclusiveness of Shanghai is an important factor attracting him. "I hope to have more opportunities to understand Shanghai culture and history in the future, which will also be very helpful to our career development."

No matter how long they lived in Shanghai, foreign teachers said in the conversation that they felt the high-quality educational environment, the rapid development and inclusive attitude of Shanghai.

Education is an important part of urban soft power. In recent years, Changning District has launched a series of solid measures to promote the internationalization of basic education and achieved tangible results. In focusing on students' learning, Changning takes "full-time foreign teachers into the classroom" as the carrier to cultivate students' global competence, and employs full-time foreign teachers for the school in the way of government payment and regional overall planning. At present, foreign teachers have covered all primary schools, 90% of junior middle schools and some senior high schools, benefiting all students in the region.
